Motherhood is transformative in many ways, but the most profound is in how I view life now. There's more love, less sleep and incredibly beautiful memories to be made in the most mundane moments. It's something that has so many different stages and feelings and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

The love you have for your children forever alters your perspective - to become a mother is to both lose one's sense of self and also discover it. My daughters have taught me patience, humility, empathy and most of all love - and in turn, an understanding and appreciation of vulnerability - your heart is forever carried outside of you once you have children.

Motherhood to me means being love, offering love and receiving love. It doesn’t mean it’s easy, even though love is a beautiful thing. It’s more instinctual. And for me personally, it is one of the greatest honours I’ve ever seen. Motherhood is sacrificial yet so fulfilling. And the emotions that come with both, sacrifice and fulfilment are ever present.

Motherhood is my greatest gift. No matter how bad your day is your children always have a way of bringing you back down to what is simplicity and gratefulness.

Motherhood means being fully present for your children and loving them always. Even the hardest of days are forgotten when you’re holding them in your arms and realizing you’re the luckiest soul in the world for being able to have this role and these precious moments.

Mother’s day, for me, is the celebration of a gift. The gift of loving and knowing a soul before you even meet them. The gift of creating life. The gift of building their self-esteem, supporting their dreams and loving them unconditionally.

Motherhood to me, means being a guiding star for a little one through their path of life. Providing an abundance of love, support & freedom for them to become their own person and appreciate how special life is.

Motherhood to me means an unconditional love between her and her children. I have so much love for my beautiful mum and it grows as I get older. 

Motherhood means to me learning to love another no matter what, to be patient, kind and nurturing. A puppy is of course fun but what it teaches you are values and skills you may not already have, learning to train and care for something other than yourself. My dog Chip is the reason I get out of the house every single day, he brings purpose and joy and a love that is like no other. A dog truly is a best friend.

Motherhood has taught me the meaning of life and to live in the present moment. Having a child is like having a piece of your heart outside your body and it makes you super vulnerable and sensitive to so much but also gives you all the feels and happiness.

It means worlds colliding, it’s the mundane and the mysterious all at once.

Motherhood to me is multifaceted. It’s an internal instinct to nurture. It’s for anyone who identifies. For those who have loved, and lost. Those who are trying, and those who can’t. It is more than just the physical birth of a child. It’s just a word we use give presence to an ideology - one of love, nurturing, strength and life. Let’s not forget, Mother Earth was here before all of us, and she does not wear a human shell

Motherhood is a superpower that enables you to be able to function on no sleep and relentless interruptions. It’s instinctive, a knowledge passed down through the genetic memory of your mother and hers and all the women who came before them. It’s a roller coaster of rushes of love and unbridled joy and near constant guilt and the inexplicable appearance of tiny dinosaurs in your handbag instead of whatever it was you needed. It sucks at your soul and gives you purpose all at once.
